Bon Jovi Cover Band Refuses To Play ‘Livin’ On a Prayer’

January 7, 2011

Cleveland, OH—Local cover band Dead or Alive disheartened concert-goers after refusing to play Bon Jovi’s 1986 hit “Livin’ on a Prayer” at a Cleveland club Tuesday night.

“We agreed from the beginning that we wouldn’t play that song,” said lead singer Chuck Davis.  “We can’t change our set because 50 chanting fans want us to.”

“Plus,” added guitarist/backing vocalist Steve Benson, “We played like half of the songs on ‘Slippery When Wet,’ let it go already.”

Members of the audience had a different opinion of the performance.

“I didn’t pay a four dollar cover and a two drink minimum to not see Bon Jovi’s greatest hit,” said disgruntled attendee Mark Peterson.  “If I knew they weren’t going to play ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ I would have went down the street to see ‘The Jokers’ (a local Steve Miller cover band).  At least they play ‘Jungle Love’ every time.”

Dead or Alive currently have no plans to reconsider their set list.
